First filter barrel delivered to QCM in July 2003

Contract for five disc filters

August 19, 2003 – In March 2003, Metal 7 obtained an important order from the company Superior Industrial Products of Hibbing Minnesota (SIP). This companies offers the Northstar disc filter technology for a number of years to its customers in the iron ore pelletizing industry.

The contract covers the manufacturing of five complete Northstar filter barrels, which will be retrofitted on the former Eimco disc filters operated by Quebec Cartier Mining of Port-Cartier Canada. With these five units, QCM will complete the conversion of both its production lines in the first part of 2004.
The five new barrels will be delivered in installments up to April 2004.

A first filter produced by Metal 7 on behalf of SIP has already been delivered in July 2003. QCM authorized SIP and Metal 7 to proceed with the manufacturing of the remaining four according to the same specifications of this first barrel.

The association between Superior Industrial Products and Metal 7 generated improvements in the design and material selection in order to increase the efficiency and durability of the Northstar filter barrels.

Superior Industrial Products already supplied in the past three Northstar filters to QCM which are in operation since 1999. Metal 7 had the opportunity to collaborate with QCM in the modification of these original three filters in 2002-2003. This is what lead to this collaboration between Metal 7 and Superior Industrial Products.
