Recent acquisition of Metal 7 Inc.

March 21, 2005 – Market challenges force Metal 7 to intensify its operation and upgrade its facilities. Last year renovation program has been approved by management board and a contract with Russian Ryazan Machine Tool Plant JSC for delivery of Special Engine Lathe Model RT317-11 has been signed under this program. In March 2005 this lathe has finally arrived in Metal 7 Inc. This is fairly big machine which, as expected, will expand the list of services provided by Metal 7 to the clients. This machine is designed for all kinds of turning operations including turning of cones and thread cutting of various types: metric, imperial, module and worm. Powerful drive and high rigidity with wide range of spindle speeds and feeds provide the use of advanced cutting tools.

RT317-11 has the following principal features:
Max. swing over bed - 1700 mm (66.93”)
Max. swing over carriage - 1300 mm (51,18”)
Distance between centres - 11000 mm (433”)
maximal angle of the turn of the taper attachment - +/-10º
maximal force of cutting - 41kN
maximal torque on spindle - 9,5 kNm (9310)
main drive - 30 kW (40,2 hp)
and is capable to machine the workpieces with the length of 11 000 mm (4331,1) and weight of 10000 kg (22000 lb).
Metal 7 already has orders from customers to be processed on the new lathe and the lathe is going to be installed and started up without delays.
